Weight Management

I am Fat.”

I am Thin.”

No, you are not Fat or Thin. You just have fat or don’t have enough fat. Your weight does not define you.

The first step towards weight management is to see your weight concerns factually. Accept that your weight doesn’t define you. This will make you realize that you have the freedom to choose how you would like to be defined. Before you change your body, you must first change your mind. Your body can transform; it is your mind that needs convincing. It doesn’t just stop with changing the mind; you also need to be constantly motivated to keep working towards achieving your weight management goals.

Mind and body are like two cycle wheels; they move in tandem. Weight issues are a direct manifestation of the mind and it can further affect the mind. For example, stress can cause one to overeat which can lead to obesity. Obesity is often accompanied by depression and the two can trigger and influence each other. The same applies to those who fear weight gain and succumb to Anorexia Nervosa and other eating disorders.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a popular way of determining if a patient is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. We like getting to the root cause of the weight issue. Instead of just focusing only on BMI we understand the metabolism of our patients. Metabolism largely impacts the way in which one may gain or lose weight. It is defined as the process and speed in which the body converts food into fuel for burning it. The metabolism analysis will help us tailor a holistic weight management plan that comprises of Exercise, Yoga and Nutritional medicines. We train our patients to connect with their body and understand its needs. Through the treatments our patients become more self-aware by connecting with their body, mind and spirit. The focus is always on being healthy rather than losing or gaining weight. Good health brings a host of benefits and body weight is just one of the many.

Body is the baggage you must carry through life. The more excess the baggage the shorter the trip.”
